Sun and/or Fun?
photo

I’ll be heading down to my hometown of Lakeland Florida next week to attend that yearly bacchanal called the Sun and/or Fun Fly-In.

I know I have mentioned more than once that I learned how to fly in Lakeland way back in the ancient early 1970s. I was a line boy there from age 15 through the day I went off to FSU to become a liberal arts major and a Seminole. I was actually working at LAL the first year they held the fly-in. The event was attended by about a dozen or so airplanes (on the FBO side of the field just past Roberts Flying Service, where the new terminal is today) and I did a blazing, never-to-be-forgotten fly-by (87 knots!) in an Ercoupe.

Good times. Anyway, if you are there and want to buy me a beer, a meal or hear boring flying and line boy stories ping me at this blog or email me at kevgar@gmail.com

We await your latest field report on Cessna's Skysnatcher, dozens of which, we're sure will darken the LAL skies blocking out the sun while having fun...
