Politicians are well-known for being hypocrites, but our new president has taken it to whole 'nuter level. Recent announcements, pronouncements and news stories coming from his administration have been admonishing corporate big wigs from using their company jets to get from A to B. The weaker CEOs crawled into DCA a few months ago driving in little cars to prove to Congress that they were serious about cost cutting and image.

What a load of crap. It would take me all day to write all the reasons why this move was stupid, but let's only cover hypocrisy today.

President Obama, the guy who has been chiding the CEOs for their expensive company jets, flies in Air Force One. To get to Air Force One he generally flies on Marine One.

On international trips -- like his trip to Canada today -- TWO Boeing 747s go because they want to have a back-up plane for him. Anywhere he flies, five or six C-17s fly in his security team, his armored limousines, and other support equipment  -- including fuel trucks full of fuel so he won't have to burn the Jet A that we lower forms of life have to use.

The helicopters he flies on both ends of his trip travel in a group of threes so the bad guys will have to choose a target and guess which one he is flying. Of course, Marine One also has numerous other helicopters flying along in support.

The cost of this executive travel for the guy telling us to save money by taking the bus?

Air Force One's most recently posted operating cost is $69,000 an hour (for one airplane -- double if they fly the back-up).

The Marine One fleet is being upgraded and changed out -- at a cost of $400 million bucks a helicopter. (Remember they always fly in threes).

Yesterday, Obama flew to Denver simply to sign the famous "stimulus bill" Figure four and a half hours one-way to fly from Andrews to DEN. His airplane alone cost us $621,000.00. That is just operating costs for the one airplane. Not the costs of the advance team, relocating Marine One (times three), the limos, etc.

In other words, by staying at the free home we give him and signing the bill there he could have saved us well over a million dollars.
